Why I Wrote Diving into Dreams
People ask me all the time: "Why did you write this book?" The simple answer? I was tired of hearing "you're so lucky."
Yes, luck played a role in my life. But luck was maybe ten percent of the equation. The other ninety percent? That was years of relentless work, calculated risks, and refusing to quit when every rational voice told me to walk away.
The Journals That Held My Story
I've been journaling since I was fourteen. I'm about to turn fifty next summer—that's decades of my life documented in those pages. Boxes full of them, spanning continents and careers. Budapest to Hollywood. Underwater stunts to dive instruction. Near-death experiences to finding contentment.
The story was already written. I just had to shape it into something that could inspire others.
Setting the Record Straight
What frustrated me most wasn't the compliment itself—it was what people weren't seeing. They saw the Hollywood credits, the diving achievements, the adventures. What they didn't see were the sacrifices, the times I worked three jobs, the moments I could have quit but chose to push through instead.
I wanted to set the record straight—not out of ego, but because I think it's dangerous when people attribute success purely to luck. It lets them off the hook. It gives them permission to keep waiting for their lucky break instead of creating their own extraordinary life.
The truth is harder and more empowering: you have to dream big enough to scare yourself a little, work harder than you thought possible, and refuse to give up.
From Dreams to Reality
Diving into Dreams isn't just an adventure memoir, though there's plenty of adventure in it. It's a transformational guide for anyone who's been told they're "lucky" when they've actually been strategic. For anyone who feels like they're constantly chasing the next achievement without ever feeling satisfied. For anyone who needs to learn what I learned the hard way: that knowing when you have enough is just as important as knowing how to dream big.
The book chronicles my journey from communist Hungary to becoming a Hollywood underwater stunt performer, PADI Course Director, and Women Divers Hall of Fame inductee. But more importantly, it's about the transformation from relentless achievement-seeking to discovering contentment and what it means to truly have "enough."
The Work After the Work
Self-publishing in September 2024 wasn't the finish line—it was the starting gun. We hit #1 New Release on Amazon in October, then #1 Best Seller in November. Those milestones felt incredible, but they also reinforced what I already knew: momentum requires constant effort. Writing the book was maybe thirty percent of the journey. The other seventy percent has been marketing, advertising, promotions, and building collaborations.
Every single day I'm working to get this book into more hands, pitching media outlets, connecting with podcasters, reaching out to book clubs, managing ads, partnering with dive shops and aquariums. It's a full-time job, and honestly? I approach it with the same relentless energy I brought to every other dream I've chased.
Because here's the thing: I didn't write this book to let it sit quietly on a shelf. I wrote it to shake people awake, to show them that the life they dream about is within reach if they're willing to do the work.
Why This Book Matters Now
We live in an age of highlight reels and overnight success stories. Everyone's showing their wins, not their grind. I wanted to write something real, something that shows both the extraordinary achievements and the hard truths about what it takes to get there.
If you've ever been told you're "lucky," this book is for you. If you've ever felt like you're chasing something but don't know when to stop, this book is for you. If you dream of living an extraordinary life but think it's only for other people, this book is definitely for you.
I wrote Diving into Dreams because I lived it first. And now I want you to know: your dreams aren't luck. They're choices, work, and courage. Let me show you how.
