Resilience & Energy Reset
Happy 2026,
If you know me, you know I'm not one for typical New Year's resolutions. I don't do the "new year, new you" pressure. I've lived through too many plot twists—illness, career changes, moments that could have stopped me—to believe transformation happens on a schedule.
Instead, I do something different. I look at what actually moved me forward this past year, and what quietly held me back. Sometimes I don't finish this process until February. Sometimes March. Life isn't linear, and neither is growth.
This year, I'm calling it my Resilience & Energy Reset.
1. WHAT DRAINED ME VS. WHAT FUELED ME
Before I set any goals, I look at energy.
I open my photos. I flip through my calendar. I notice patterns.
On one side of paper, I write down Energy Drains—the obligations I said yes to out of guilt, the people or situations that left me exhausted, the beliefs that kept me playing small, the "shoulds" that weren't aligned with who I actually am.
On the other side: Energy Sources—the moments I was so absorbed I lost track of time, the people who made me feel lighter, the places that filled me with awe (usually underwater), the movement and creative work that reminded me why I keep going.
Some of my biggest energy sources this year: traveling to Mongolia with my family, creating new jewelry designs that felt meaningful, working with at-risk youth, writing content that connected with people who refuse to give up.
Some drains: saying yes when I meant no, pushing through when my body needed rest, overthinking instead of creating.
2. THE MANIFESTATION MAP (NOT A VISION BOARD)
I used to think vision boards were too woo-woo… until mine started coming true. Now I create what I call a Manifestation Map—images, words, feelings I want to cultivate. I include photos from the past year that brought me joy: diving moments, time with my sister, jewelry pieces I'm proud of, testimonials from clients who said my work helped them keep going.
This year's themes:
Adventure. Creation. Connection. Resilience.
No pressure. Just a visual reminder of what an extraordinary life looks like for me.
3. CLEAR THE CLUTTER
Physical clutter drains my creative energy. Over the next few weeks, I go through my space—studio, closet, digital files—and release what no longer serves me. If I haven't used it or loved it in the past year, it goes. I need space to create, space to breathe, space for what's next.
4. PUT ADVENTURES ON THE CALENDAR
I'm a believer in scheduling joy. This month, I'm sitting down to block out: sister diving trips, surf sessions, creative retreat time, teaching courses, and coaching sessions with people who are building unconventional lives.
If it's on the calendar, it happens. If it's not, it gets swallowed by daily obligations.
5. GRATITUDE
This is the most important part. I make a list of everyone who supported me, inspired me, or brought light into my life this past year—and I thank them.
That includes YOU.
Reading someone's newsletter, following their work, trusting them with your time and energy—that's a gift. I don't take it lightly. Thank you for being here.
