Mother's Day: Honoring the Past and Celebrating the Present
(This is a picture of my mother and son with me)
As Mother's Day approaches, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, it's a day to celebrate and honor the mothers in our lives, but on the other hand, it can be a painful reminder of the ones who are no longer with us.
My own mother and both my grandmothers have passed away, and their absence is deeply felt on this day.
However, I am also a mother myself, and the love I have for my son is indescribable. I would walk into fire for him.
My purpose in life is to raise him to be a compassionate, caring, open-minded, and adventurous individual, just like me. I take pride in being a mother and cherish the special bond I share with my child.
While my mother and grandmothers may not be here with me physically, their love and influence live on in me and the way I raise my son. They have left a legacy of love and nurturing that I can continue in my own life and pass down to future generations.
This Mother's Day, I am taking the time to honor and remember my own mother and grandmothers, but I am also celebrating the amazing experience of motherhood. I am pulling photos out to share with my son, to tell stories about women in our family he will not going to know in person.
Being a mother is a gift and a privilege. It is an opportunity to shape the future and leave a positive impact on the world. I am proud of the person I have become and the love I have for my son is just incredibly powerful. Before I became a parent, I had no idea this is even possible.
To all the mothers and mother figures out there, past and present, I wish you a Happy Mother's Day.
May your day be filled with love, joy, and gratitude. Cherish the memories of your loved ones no longer with us in person and keep their spirit alive through the love and care you give to your own children.
Love, Szilvia
