Launch Week Special: Dive Into Dreams with a FREE Prologue!

Happy Launch Week, readers! 🎉
To celebrate the official release of my memoir, Diving Into Dreams: Navigating Life's Deepest Waters to Discover the Secret of Having Enough, I'm excited to share something special with you—the complete prologue that started it all!
This book has been a labor of love, chronicling my journey from a restless pursuit of "more" to discovering the profound contentment that comes from having enough. The story begins where many of my most transformative experiences have taken place: underwater.
A Launch Week Gift
As we officially launch Diving Into Dreams this week, I wanted to give you this special gift—a behind-the-scenes look at where the journey begins. The prologue, "Diving In," captures a pivotal moment from my work as a safety diver on the Avatar film sequels, and it's the perfect introduction to the underwater world that shaped so much of my story.
I wanted to give you a taste of the underwater world that shaped so much of my perspective on life—the place where I discovered that sometimes the most beautiful moments happen when we're holding our breath, trusting our training, and working in perfect harmony with others.
A Sneak Peek Into the Journey
This memoir isn't just about diving (though there's plenty of that!). It's about the universal search for meaning, purpose, and that elusive sense of "enough" in a world that constantly tells us we need more. From my childhood in post-communist Hungary to the crystal-clear waters of film sets around the world, these are the stories that taught me the difference between pursuing dreams and being consumed by them.
Prologue: Diving In
"Your spark can become a flame and change everything." — E.D. Nixon
Liquid gold streams through the water, casting an ethereal glow. Imitation coral sways in the artificial currents like a troupe of mesmerized ballerinas. The actors float and move beneath the surface with otherworldly grace. Yet despite the breathtaking visuals, there's nothing glamorous about this moment.
My heart pounds with the ticking seconds, and not just from physical exertion. The burden of responsibility weighs heavy. We've created another world down here—so beautiful in the filtered light!—but my job is more than just making sure the scene looks perfect. We're filming an endless loop of takes for the Avatar sequels: four-minute shots, one after the other, with twenty people holding their breath underwater for what feels like an eternity. Unless everyone in that tank stays safe, even when pushing their body beyond what seems humanly possible, it's on me.
When the cameras are rolling, the whole crew transforms into a well-oiled machine. Every move is calculated, every person hyper-focused on their part of the puzzle. It's a dance, and we're all in sync. We're capturing seconds—fractions of seconds, really—that have to be perfect. There's no room for mistakes.
The water, once calm and inviting, has become an arena of silent endurance. Each take stretches out longer than the last. Under the pool surface, visibility is limited, yet we remain fully aware of our surroundings, carefully executing the sequence of events with intense focus and confidence in the crew's vigilance. Despite the inherent danger and the adrenaline rush, there's a profound glee in implementing every fastidious detail.
In the scene's final cut, the interplay between the haunting score and our frantic underwater thrashing is chilling.
Once filming wraps, my sense of relief is matched only by the feeling of accomplishment. The intensity of the shoot and the teamwork it required leave an indelible mark. Swimming through the dark water while fighting against the rising pressure and the disorienting currents. It's time to look up and start kicking. My heart races as I break through the surface, gasping for air and welcoming the relief of escape.
I look back at the bus, fully submerged now, and feel that delicious blend of triumph and exhaustion. All the meticulous planning and execution has brought this impressive stunt to life. The crew's cheers and applause signal the end to another exhilarating shoot.
