“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” the magnet appears in front of my eyes as I close the fridge door. It has been there for a while, but sometimes I forget about it; I read it but do not comprehend it.

Not today; I pause and ponder its whole meaning. I love motivational quotes, and I try living by some of them; sometimes, I forget to follow through fully because the comfort zone is more comfortable than going beyond it.

A comfort zone might feel like a beautiful place, but nothing rarely grows there.

I know because I sat in one for a few years, expecting something extraordinary to happen while letting my fears and insecurities stop me from venturing further. And I grew resentful, primarily with myself and my indecisiveness.

That zone became the place where I tended to go by, where I fostered a mentality of settling for less than what I was dreaming, procrastinating that little extra step. I felt I was playing it safe; instead, I was hiding behind my fears.

Then one day, I decided to step beyond it, explore something new, and push for the change I was waiting for. I decided that instead of waiting, I would create the extraordinary, my extraordinary, the one I had been dreaming of for such a long time.

And I learned a valuable lesson. If we dare to learn, be different, be persistent and present, and be active and engaged, we will find that we are taking a step outside of our comfort zone and expanding our capabilities to adapt, grow and improve.

The more we step away, the more fulfilled we will become, and the more we will be able to live a life without limits until one day, we will step so far from our comfort zone that we will forget how to get back.
